Law School?
From the time I was young, I always envisioned myself as a teacher. Flash forward many years.. to the almost beginning of my 5th year of college. I am one year away from getting my bachelors degree in Elementary Education and after that.. what has always been the plan has been to get my teaching credential and begin teaching in the 2nd grade classroom. You can imagine my surprise when my brain decided to do a lot of thinking the other night about my future, and what I want with my life. I envisioned a life different from the one that I have created in my head these past many years. After going through different ideas in my mind, I remembered that over the years of my life I was always told that I would make a great lawyer.
So, being the person who was so in the very depths of my brain, I decided to research. Being a lawyer.. was it possible? The answer was... yes! As long as I pass the LSAT with a great score, and maintain my GPA (of course... will keep that up!), then I have a high chance of getting into law school. My bachelor's degree doesn't have an impact on my getting into law school which is great.
It amazed me how much my mind went from being upset on one night about where I was going in life, to being on this high of excitement about what could be. That night I researched different law schools, woke up and requested a tour of the UCDavis law school for the next day. Today, my mom and I went to the school. I fell in love with it and really felt that it was something that I would love to do and could see myself doing. While the stakes are high with law school and it would be a long 3 years... it really is only 2 years more than I would be doing with my college career in the first place.
So, what are the pros and cons of these things.. I am working on figuring that all out. I am planning on applying to both the credential program at Sac State.. and a bunch of law schools throughout California... and maybe even out of the state.
Anyways, I will update on my adventures with law school and what I decide to do as things become more clear. I am planning on chatting with my cousin about what his experience has been during his life in the law career and his new experiences as a partner in a law firm.
